Payment:
All payments should have been made previous to the sale date. If you find that you need another
table and one is available, let me know and we will arrange for it.
Remember, there are no other fees, whatever you make at the sale is
yours.
*NEW!
EVEN EARLIER SET UP! 7:00
a.m. – Set Up: The building
will be open at 7:00 a.m. The best place to unload is at the
main entrance, there is a drop off loop for school buses, park, unload
then move your car to one of the lots at the side of the school. You
want to get in early because Chinese
School starts at 8:30 a.m. and there will be
parents dropping kids off- a good bonus for us, maybe we’ll get some
traffic coming into the sale! Also, mom sellers can get first dibs on
each other’s stuff before we open to the public.
Tables:
2 metres long. Tables will be labeled with numbers. You will set up at
your assigned number, they will correspond to the location that you
picked. Please note that there may be some slight changes in your
location to ensure that people who have more than one table can have
them side by side. The tables will be in rows of approximately 10.
At this time there may not be a large item area, you may have to keep
those items with you at your table.
Washrooms:
Will be available to you just around the corner.
9:00
a.m.- Sale Begins: Last time
we had people just itching to get in, but doors do not open early.
Pricing:
Whatever you want. You might want to talk to each other about your
expectations. Again, be reasonable, remember that people will compare
your prices to the second hand store and to what they can pay for
something on sale. Start with the price that you really want, then
haggle as the day goes on if stuff isn’t moving. You will always get
the low-ballers, but moms who know brand name clothes will usually pay a
bit more. I’m a bargain hunter, but even I won’t usually look twice at
clothing that is more than $5 unless it is pristine.
My Suggestions:
- Wash your
clothes, separate stained ones into a bargain bin
- Clean your toys
and baby gear
- Pin sets of
clothes together, make outfits to sell multiple pieces, sellers who
had success selling clothes bagged their sets, labeled them with the
brand, size and price
- Bring something
to put your cash in, bring a float (change) with you, I won’t have any
- Bring bags to
give your buyers
- Try to organize
your clothes by size or season, and gender
- Label or not to
label? Your choice, sometimes it turns people off b/c they don’t feel
like they can barter, or if your price is too high they figure it’s
not worth bartering. Try combo deals- 3 for $5 etc.
- Don’t try to
sell junk, it can clutter the stuff that’s worth buying and sometime
people don’t want to rummage through it
- Everyone should
have a $1 bin or $2 bin
- Lay out outfits,
helps buyers see and buy multiple pieces
- Give deals to
people who want several things
- If someone shows
interest in your stuff don’t let them walk away
- If you really
want to get rid of your clothes then let it go- if you are still
attached to it, you may want to hang on to it and lend it to a friend
because buyers are coming for bargains!
Food:
I suggest that you bring food with you, especially if you are working
your table alone. There are vending machines in the school, but it’s
just junk and pop. Next door there are some fast food restaurants,
Pizza Nova, Subway, Chinese Bakery and restaurants. You could always
partner up with a table neighbour if you are desperate for food.
I will
be selling water, coffee and some snacks at the sale- no one else is permitted to do so.
1:00
p.m.- Sale Ends: Usually
things die down around 12, which gives you a bit of a break and time to
socialize with other vendors. As we get closer to 1 p.m. you can start
to pack up, but hopefully there won’t be much of that! You leave with a
smile on your face and cash in your pocket!
